Is the price on the page the whole price?
Often it is only one layer. The visit, a recurring membership, the medicine, tests, and delivery can be priced separately.
Compare totals for the same product and the same period. A low first month and a normal month are different numbers.
A low monthly figure means the visit and medicine are included.
Many online weight-care services use a recurring membership, and the medicine is commonly billed separately. A first-month offer can also be lower than later months.
The useful numbers are named numbers
List price, cash price, insurance cost, and membership fee do not mean the same thing. Put each in its own line before comparing options.
What that range means
On September 26, 2026, the manufacturer’s prices for people paying without insurance ran from $149 to $499 per month, depending on the approved semaglutide product and strength.
A monthly fill means one month of medicine; for the injection, that is one box of four pens. The lowest injection prices applied only to the first two monthly fills, and several offers carried a December 31, 2026 end date.
List price is not cash price
As of September 2026, Wegovy’s published list price was about $1,349 per package, while Ozempic’s was about $1,000. The list price is a reference price, not a prediction of what one person will pay.
Insurance starts with the approved use
Coverage may depend on which brand is prescribed and why. Prior authorization means the health plan must agree before it pays, and the plan can ask for health records or other proof.
Medicare has a separate short-term program
GLP-1 is the name of the gut hormone that semaglutide copies, so these drugs are often called GLP-1 medicines.
As of September 2026, eligible people in the temporary Medicare GLP-1 Bridge paid $50 for a monthly supply. Wegovy injections and tablets were included for weight treatment through December 31, 2027.
To qualify, a person needed Medicare drug coverage, had to be 18 or older, and had to meet weight and health rules. People with type 2 diabetes did not qualify, because their medicine was already covered the usual way. Medicare’s own page, listed below, gives the full rules.
That $50 payment sat outside Part D, the usual Medicare drug benefit. It did not count toward the deductible, the amount a person pays before the plan starts paying. It also did not count toward the yearly limit on what a person pays from their own pocket.
